Description:
Having worked in the solar industry in New England, it has become clear that New Jersey offers one of the most aggressive incentives for funding solar projects on the east coast. These incentives have made it profitable for third party companies to lay out upfront costs of equipment and sell the electricity back to the consumer at a lower price. These programs have been very successful and have been a real win-win situation for consumer and provider. The majority of the profit for the provider comes from the sale of solar renewable energy certificates which are earned for generating clean energy from the customer's panels.
My idea is to provide this service to commercial properties. Instead of offering these consumers reduced electricity rates, I would like to install turnkey pay-per-charge electric vehicle charging stations free to the business. The commercial properties would pay nothing for the charging station or solar array equipment. In exchange, my company sells clean energy to the consumer at a small discount, and receives a portion of revenue generated from the charging stations.
I have many connections and ample knowledge of both the solar and electric vehicle industries. I believe that this could be a very profitable venture given current market trends and the incentive climate.
